Lactation specialist Mellanie Sheppard will be teaching Breastfeeding Basics, a class designed to give you the basic knowledge needed to prepare to breastfeed confidently. She will cover everything you need to know in order to get started- how to ensure a good milk supply, how to tell that baby is getting what he needs to grow, what a good latch looks (and feels!) like and how to troubleshoot if you experience difficulty.
The class is designed to last 2-2.5 hours and will allow plenty of time for questions.
Breasfeeding is about families. Studies show that moms are more likely to meet their breasfeeding goals if baby's father is supportive. If your mother, sister, mother-in-law, etc. will be staying with you after birth and they did not breasfeed their babies, it can be helpful if they have the basic information to support you as well. Feel free to bring them along to the class.
